Shane is a 26 year old Endurance Athlete & Entrepreneur based in Dingle, Ireland. Over the past 7 years Shane has completed marathons & Ironman triathlons, travelling all over the world to do so. These include races in the USA, Spain & Australia!

Shane entered endurance running at a relatively early age of 17, wanting to make a change to the lives of others. The 2010 Dingle Marathon was where it all started. Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI) was always a part of Shane's running & always will be. In 2010 Shane raised over 8000 euro for SBHI. Instantly addicted Shane proceeded to run the 2011 New York City Marathon raising over 10,000 for SBHI.

Shane then proceeded to run 12 Marathons in 12 Days from Dublin City to Dingle Town in June of 2014 and raised 33,000 for SBHI. Having run a number of single marathons, he quickly realised that people needed his help. There were people in Ireland living & suffering from Spina Bifida &/or Hydrocephalus that struggled every day, had to fight every day and got very little help & support from Ireland as a country.

In the Summer of 2017, Shane ran 24 back to back Marathons in 24 days around the island of Ireland raising over 142,000 euro for SBHI. It was a huge event creating hype both nationally & internationally. The number 24 represents 24 hours in a day. Shane chose the number 24 as he realised that 24 hours a day is a constant challenge for many who live with Spina Bifida &/or Hydrocephalus. A marathon a day to represent an hour a day of someone who has to constantly overcome their struggles. The event was a monumental success, due to the efficiency of the Support Team & Crew, the 18 months of organisational work and the support from all corners of the globe.

The thing is, Shane's not finished yet ...........

In March of 2019 Shane & his team will be taking on the USA!

From California to New York City, the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean crossing the entire continent of the United States in aid of Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Ireland!

The event is going to take a Marathon & Long Cycle style format! This will fully confirmed once we have chosen the final route.

Just to clarify, this is not a record attempt, we are not aiming to set or break any records! Our aim is to go from point A to point B and raise as much money for SBHI as we can! No need to call the internet police just yet on that one! The record is well and truly safe! ;)

For Example:

Day 1 - 57 km Run - Day 2 - 57 km Run - Day 3 - 57 km Run - Day 3 - 260 km Cycle - Day 4 - 260km Cycle - Day 5 - 260km Cycle - Day 6 - Back to 50km Run ... And repeat for 36 days!

Plenty more details coming soon as we have them & as things get confirmed!
